Peter B. Nichols

Principal

Peter Nichols is Principal and Managing Director of NorthStar Ally where he leads the client advisory services and directs new business strategies and initiatives for the firm. Mr. Nichols has 30 years of experience advising clients in formulating and implementing effective real estate strategies, as well as creating value through acquisitions and development of various property types in national and international markets.

Prior to joining NorthStar, Mr. Nichols spent over 25 years as Senior Vice President and Partner of the Beal Companies in Boston. In this capacity, he guided a full range of commercial development activities from negotiating acquisitions and permitting through development financing, leasing, construction completion and re-disposition. Projects have included large and complex acquisitions and entitlement campaigns, facility redevelopment, detailed feasibility analyses, implementation of strategic plans and other incremental asset optimization decisions. Mr. Nichols has played a critical role in over 1.5 million square feet of development activities in the Greater Boston market, across an array of uses, including life science laboratory, commercial office, high-rise residential and retail shopping center projects.

Mr. Nichols is a Counselor in Real Estate (CRE) in the American Society of Real Estate Counselors. Additionally he has received the honor of designation as a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) from the Certified Investment Real Estate Institute.

He is active in a variety of industry organizations, including the Urban Land Institute, NAIOP, Real Estate Finance Association, and the Greater Boston Real Estate Board, Counselors in Real Estate. Additionally, Mr. Nichols holds a Real Estate Broker’s License in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and is panelist at industry events and a guest lecturer at the MIT Center for Real Estate.

With a deep commitment to supporting communities in constructive ways, Mr. Nichols has participated on a number of non-profit boards and committees (see list below). He presently serves as Vice Chairman of the New England Baptist Hospital.

He holds a B.A from Middlebury College.
